You should get in touch with the ACLU of Louisiana, the Americans United for the Separation of Church and State and maybe the Freedom From Relgiion Foundation. Each of these groups can do something to address flagrant violatios of church-state separation. We can help locally, but the national offices usually have more knowledge and resources for legal actions. Sometimes it only takes a letter of complaint.

Get in touch with NOSHA or AU and let us know what you find out!

Being a transplant from Bucks County, Pennsylvania to Lake Charles, as well as a science degree holder, I am truly appalled by the educational system in Louisiana. My kids were given Bibles at school, the bus driver plays Christian rock while transporting the kids! The texts used by some of the private religious schools are downright insane. I came to your post while trying to find ways to become active in the fight to make our schools conform to separation of church and state and educate our children so they are able to compete with the rest of the country. If you can, please let me know how I can work to make these changes here. I am seriously troubled by the willful ignorance that I have encountered.
